SCHOOL STUDENT’S EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
We at Sai Kung Stray Friends value the importance of giving the young students in our society the hands-on experience of learning about animal welfare by volunteering with us. Towards this we have developed the following programs suitable for school students
School Visits
School Group Volunteering Visits
Schools are welcome to bring students aged 13 years and above for a meaningful hands-on volunteering experience at our shelter in Sai Kung.
During the visit, students will take part in various important tasks including cleaning, walking dogs, assisting in the kitchen, and feeding the dogs. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to gain real experience in animal care while making a positive impact.
Please note: School staff are required to accompany the group at all times to supervise and support the students.
If you are a teacher or school administrator and would like to arrange a small group visit, please email us at volunteersaikungstrayfriendshk@gmail.com.

School student volunteers
School students of all ages are warmly welcome to join our volunteer team!
As a member of our volunteer team, you will assist at our adoption events and fundraisers held across the city. Students under 13 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all events. During the events, you will:
- Care for the dogs and puppies brought to the event
- Warmly interact with visitors and potential adopters
- Share information about our shelter and the dogs
- Collect donations
- Help with event setup and closing
This is a wonderful way to connect with the community while making a real difference! 🐾
We also strongly encourage you to organise your own fundraiser for the shelter — our team will happily guide you every step of the way with planning and management.
Most importantly, school students can volunteer by fostering a dog (short-term or long-term) at home and helping it find its forever family by spreading the word.
We warmly invite all students to begin their volunteering journey with us at our adoption events — this is the perfect first step for everyone!
Students who participate consistently, show reliability and maintain a positive attitude may later be invited to volunteer in the kennel area. Please note: We are unable to place students directly into kennel volunteering positions.
If you would like to join the programme to volunteer at our adoption events and fundraisers, please send an email to volunteersaikungstrayfriendshk@gmail.com with the subject line: “Student Volunteers {Your Name}”
In the email, please include:
- Your school
- Your age

VOLUNTEER KENNEL STAFF
Join our team of volunteer kennel staff
Kennel Friendship Volunteer Programme
(Adults 18+)
We are looking for caring adult volunteers aged 18 years and above to visit our kennel regularly — at least once every week — and build a special friendship with a chosen dog.
Through your consistent time, patience and affection, you will help the dog become more confident, friendly and sociable. This greatly increases their chances of finding a forever home.
Many of our stray dogs have never experienced human kindness or love before, so your visits may feel strange to them at first. Over time, your dog will start to recognise you and will get visibly excited every time you arrive.
You really can change a dog’s life!
Once you become a regular volunteer, you will join our official kennel volunteer team and take part in all daily duties, including cleaning, walking dogs, feeding, and other important shelter tasks.
New Volunteers Orientation Programme
We hold regular orientation sessions for new volunteers. These practical, hands-on sessions are guided by our experienced senior volunteers and will give you a clear understanding of daily shelter work.
This programme is ideal for adults who want to experience a full day of volunteering and are considering joining our regular kennel team in the future.
Click the link below to view upcoming dates and register for our next orientation programme.
We look forward to welcome you to the team! 🐾

We welcome everyone to come and walk our dogs. We are open 365 days a year from 10.30am until 3 pm for visitors. Weekdays are typically quieter and weekends can be busier
If you are an individual over the age of 18 years (or) a small family – please make an appointment by writing an email to volunteersaikungstrayfriendshk@gmail.com and making your request to visit. Our volunteer team will review your request and reply within 7 days and advice you the date and time for your visit. After receipt of our email confirmation, please come on the confirmed date to visit to walk dogs
We believe there is something for everyone at SKSFF. This page details how schools, businesses, friends and family can get involved at our kennels.
